By way of comfort, let me add that, over the years, we do grow thick-skinned once we acknowledge we write because we breathe, or we breathe because we write. When we reach that point, we stop caring. With much love, Marta.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15249891006083336192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925449466467205516.post-32242550036928638302014-09-17T01:03:00.128-07:002014-09-17T01:03:00.128-07:00I do hope so, dear Pim. That was my intent, indeed - the consolation that is, with the 'wisdom, insight and delightful asides' being, perhaps, reader-dependent - the eye of the beholder -if they so perceived them there - but delighted you saw such. Forgive the cumbersome verbosity - but I find myself annoyingly alert at 3am, with my mind sluggishly uncooperative even while the body adamantly refuses to sleep!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18156605759733149704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925449466467205516.post-68812889873177382672014-09-08T02:54:14.441-07:002014-09-08T02:54:14.441-07:00I reread your blogpost several times, dear PJ, not...I reread your blogpost several times, dear PJ, noticing new aspects each and every time I read... On top of wisdom, insight and delightful asides, it's self-reflective angle even seems to offer a modicum of consolation. Which is direly needed, at times.
A fellow 'sufferer',
Pim WiersingaPim Wiersingahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11095233256313674782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925449466467205516.post-44892248898570067612014-08-28T06:28:12.164-07:002014-08-28T06:28:12.164-07:00Dearest Dana, you are absolutely right! Without it, we wouldn't be able to feel deeply and to explore the strengths and weaknesses of human nature. Receptive to everything that assails us in order to create a work that is relevant and true, it takes time to grow back scales in order to ward off harsh criticism. But it happens, after a spell, when we have distanced ourselves from our creation only to repeat the same cycle all over again.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03694693604571313152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925449466467205516.post-61827732251862534152014-08-27T02:59:35.960-07:002014-08-27T02:59:35.960-07:00Words of wisdom indeed, my friend! It is so lovely to see you here, Don, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave your wonderful comment. Perhaps next time I could serve us up a nourishing insect stew over the literary campfire?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18156605759733149704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925449466467205516.post-90481712856765867422014-08-26T19:45:40.730-07:002014-08-26T19:45:40.730-07:00P.J.,

I believe the picture for all who will persevere gets brighter as we continue to lay down ink. If we like our own work, we will strive to bring it out into the light of day, pursuing its place among the millions already in position. This in itself is intimidating, but we press forward until we find our PLACE. I believe that spot waits for each of us, so forward we must go, and never fall back. We may even get there faster working together!!!

When negative words head our way, we must treat them as gnats or black-flies that bug us. It's best to take advice from the bullfrog and just quietly eat what bugs us. Swallow it like bad tasting medicine, and let it do, if it were possible, its good work in us. If it doesn't kill us, maybe it will somehow make us stronger, so the saying goes. Taken in the right spirit we could learn something valuable from it also.grassroots08https://www.blogger.com/profile/03060014053986043056noreply@blogger.com
